One of the biggest blessings about the internet is also one of its biggest curses. Thanks to the internet we can go online and be whoever it is we want to be. We don't have to be honest about the troubles we are facing in life or necessarily look the way that we do in real life when we are communicating with people over the internet.
Thanks to the internet people have found long-lost family members, their husband or wife, and even their closest friends through interactive social websites. Although these people are not initially communicating face-to-face for a richer communication experience, they are sometimes able to be more open because of the barrier that is in place by them not physically being together.
In a previous blog post that I wrote, I mentioned how when fans post photos and status and use a particular hashtag, Chip and Joanna will use them as featured elements on their newsletters. This is one way for them to interact with fans on a more personal level but they also have developed a mobile bakery that they take to various music festivals, furniture showcases, and state fairs where they can share some of their Waco-favorites and surprise fans with a visit.
This extra element of seeking out interaction with fans is what make the followers of Fixer Upper so strong. Chip and Joanna acknowledge that they are where they are because of the support/following of their fans and they want them to know that they are valued and appreciated.
